petsitios

Know which places really welcome dogs — before you go.

petsitios is a guide to cafés, shops and places to stay that accept dogs. Each one lists its pet policy in plain words, and owners who went with their dog say whether it held true. No more phoning ahead.

The guide is filling up now. See the places listed so far, or list yours.

Why owners phone ahead

A paw sticker on the door. "Pet friendly" on a booking site. A friend who is sure it was fine last summer.

None of it says whether the dog can come inside or only sit on the terrace, whether a big dog is as welcome as a small one, or whether there is a fee. So owners phone first — or turn up and are turned away at the door.

What is in the guide

Places that welcome dogs

Cafés, restaurants, bars, shops and places to stay, each listed by the business itself and checked before it appears.

The pet policy, in detail

Inside or outside only, which sizes, how many dogs, lead or no lead, a water bowl, and any fee — the questions people phone to ask.

Reviews from owners

After a visit, owners say whether their dog was welcomed as the listing says, found it stricter, or was turned away.

A map of them

Every place on one map, so you can see what is near before you set off. Filter by town or by café, shop or place to stay.

For cafés, shops and places to stay

If you welcome dogs, say so properly. Listing your place and its pet policy is free; each listing is checked by a person before it goes into the guide.

A featured listing puts your place first in the guide and on the map, marked as featured. It never hides a review.

  1. Create an account and add your place: the address, a pin on the map, and your pet policy.
  2. We check that the place exists where the pin says, and publish it.
  3. Owners find it in the guide and on the map — and after a visit, they review it.
  4. You get an email for every review. If your policy changes, update the listing.
